Avario had spent about two full days on the road when he instantly noticed the shift in the atmosphere. The tightening grip on his shoulder alerted him to danger, but he could sense something else. His stomach churned as he ventured deeper into the denser forests, signaling that he was crossing into a new territory: Maldonia.
He knew it instinctively. The moment he stepped into the territory, he paused.
“Should I leave?” he asked himself, glancing up and down the thick forest. He didn’t feel as though he should. A question lingered within him, demanding him to continue. Was this that death thing Kyla mentioned? If it was, he could feel it deep within. He couldn’t stop now, even though every instinct told him to turn back. There was no way around it.
