Chapter 125: Problems Caused

“Mother?” Frederick called out softly. He watched as she simply stared off into the distance. “Mother, please,” he said again, this time with a silent plea.
“I tried,” his father said from behind him. “I heard everything, but your mother was simply uncontrollable.”
Frederick shook his head, refusing to accept it. “She just needs to know that I’m here, that I love her. If she knows that, she might come back to us.”
“Are you here to stay?” his father asked, sounding suspicious.
“Yes,” Frederick said as he stood up. “In fact, I have some interesting news.”
“What could that be?” his father questioned, folding his arms over his chest.
“Darius challenged me to a fight, the same way it was done in the old days. We are to fight once we are both recovered.”
His father’s face grew serious. “Let’s talk about this over the next few days,” he said. “Perhaps with your friends. We need to think about the strategy.”
