675: NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES
ARIEL'S POV
Luke held my hand really tight as the sound of the gunshot rang through the air. Without hesitation, he pulled me toward the mansion, scanning our surroundings.
My heart raced, and I was frightened, no doubt about that. We both rushed toward safety.
"What's happening?" I asked loudly in fear. My heart was beating too fast. I was never expecting this. I wasn't expecting a gunshot to be fired at my mansion. This was just so horrible.
"I don't know," Luke replied in an inexorable tone. "But we need to get inside. Now."
"Oh my gosh, this isn't good," I brought out in a hushed tone.
"I know you're terrified, but you have to put yourself together."
Was he trying to encourage me? In a situation like this?
Another gunshot rang out, closer this time. Luke cursed under his breath; he tightened his hand around mine and zoomed forward. He moved too fast, and I struggled to keep up. We were making our way toward the mansion's entrance.
