487: DESPERATE STAND
LUKE'S POV
"I said I'm not hungry!" I shouted, my voice filled with pent-up anger and desperation.
With a sudden surge of frustration and anger, I lashed out, sending the plate of food crashing to the floor with a loud clatter. The sound echoed through the room, reverberating off the walls like a gunshot.
Harriet recoiled at my outburst, her eyes widening in surprise before quickly narrowing into icy slits of fury. "How dare you!" she seethed, her voice dripping with venom. "Do you have any of the time I had to spend just to prepare that food?"
I ignored her, the flames of anger moving inside me in different ways, being enkindled, filling me up, and I was burning with the exhilarating pain. All I could think about was Ariel and the sickening feeling of helplessness that consumed me at the thought of her suffering because of my cowardice.
