“When I was a child...” I mumbled in oblivion, firmly holding on to the bouquet of jasmine flowers. We were standing before Clara’s grave in Lilyview’s graveyard. The sun beam was a little hotter than usual but it rather burned me inside than burned my skin. “...I used to be terrified of the night.”
I felt Logan’s gaze but I maintained mine on Clara’s grave.
“She would come to my room every night and sing me lullabies and embrace me in her warmth.” I smiled sadly, I still remembered her scent, her touch.
“You know,” my chest heaved down in a heavy manner. “She was the closest to a mother. And I wish I had told her at least once, how much I cherished her. I wish I’d told her how much of a wonderful mother she was.” Tears trickled down my cheeks.
“I wish I had saved her that day,” I sniffed and Logan slipped his hand from his coat pocket and then patted my back tenderly.
“I’ll always remember you in my heart, Clara,” I whispered and lowered to place the bouquet on her grave. I
