Chapter 19

AMY “Are you sure you’re ready to do this?” Logan queried worriedly as he drove to a halt before the Pack dungeons. “I’m fine, Logan,” I responded but both of us knew that was an obvious lie. My insides were burning like brimstone fire. Fear haunted me as well as rage. I wasn’t sure how I was going to react seeing the Rogue’s face but I was definitely not going to let tears get the better of me. “Are you sure? I saw how you reacted when Oliver mentioned the Rogue.” “I have to do this, Logan. That bastard—“ my voice trailed off, staring at the dungeon a few meters away. “Whatever happens, I’ve got you, okay?” I nodded like a child and then we alighted the car. On getting to the dungeon, one of the guards escorted us to the prison where the Rogue was being tortured. We had only gotten to the metal door and I could hear the sounds of chains and heavy grunts. Logan gave me one last glance before we entered and the first thing we were welcomed with was the fresh smell of blood. He was brown-haired with several cuts laced across his chest and back thanks to the silver chains laced with sharp needlelike parts that reeked of wolfsbane. He was naked hanging mid-air as his wrist and ankles were tied to the chains rooted to the dungeon walls. There were two guards behind him and Oliver at his front. All three, flogging him mercilessly. “Alpha Logan,” the guards greeted as they stopped. “Has he said anything yet?” Logan queried. “We’ve been torturing him for close to an hour now and he doesn’t seem to be bulging,” Oliver whispered but I cared less. My gaze was purely fixated on the rogue whose face was lowered. One would think he was unconscious but he was fully awake and didn’t seem to be bothered by his injuries. I inched closer with my palms slowly curling into a fist. He was one of the bastards that caused Clara’s death! Thanks to him and his cursed people, scores of people had lost their lives. Perhaps I thought I could contain the fire brewing in me but it went wild instead. Every part of me wanted this man dead. To give him the slowest of the slowest, making sure his brain recorded the pain till he draws his last breaths. “Amy,” Logan called but I didn’t stop till I was just a few meters before the rogue. He looked up at me and then started to cackle. His eyes were beaming of so much bloodlust, there was not an iota of pain, regret or guilt and it only vexed me more. “Amy Lockwood, or should I call you Amy Lancaster,” his hoarse voice quoted. I gasped wondering how he knew my original name. “Surprised?” He laughed again. “Ohhh it’s such a shame that you’re mated to this bastard that calls himself the Alpha King!” “Hey!!” One of the guards latched the silver weapons across his back but his laughter only boomed. “How dare you talk to the Alpha King like that!” The guards yelled, flogging him as if their life depended on it. “That’s enough!” Logan ordered and they stopped. “Oh Amy,” he whined while I battled hard to contain my tears. The more I looked, the more Clara’s face appeared before me. I still remember every detail. Her scent, the lack of life in her eyes, her cold body. “You’re a disease! And you spread it quite well wherever you go. First you lost your Pack, then your foster family, and now you’ve carried that bad luck to the mighty Alpha King.” My breaths hung in my throat. “He doesn’t have much time to live anyways. He has been marked for death and the true Alpha King is returning soon to claim his title this fraud stole!” He spat out blood. “How dare you?!” Oliver growled and he cackled again. “You think you scare me?! You think your meaningless torture is going to make me spill the truth?! Then you’re in for a lost cause Beta Oliver.” “You bastard!—“ he was about to hit him but Logan held him back. “I answer to no one except the true Alpha King!! He is coming and he’s going to strike when you least expect it! Kill me now!” He spat blood again. “Torture me all you want, you’re only going to waste your precious time!” I gripped his jaw with my left hand in a blink, my claws had extended, slowly creeping into his skin. His eyes mirrored the deadly golden yellow my eyes had morphed into. “You think this is funny?!” I growled while my grip hardened by the moment. “You took Clara, scores of lives and here you are spouting nonsense about the true Alpha King,” my grip slowly moved to his neck. “How dare you?!” I gripped his neck so hard that his eyes exclaimed in horror. His breaths started to tour out unevenly and I loved it. I loved the trace of fear that hinted in his eyes. “I don’t care how you know me or whatever plans you’ve done but for the lives you took, the angel of death should have a special deal with you!” The bones in his neck started to crack at the same time, the smiles of Clara and the moments we used to share flooded my head like a storm. It was electrifying having so much power over someone’s life. “I promise you, I’ll make death a luxury you can never have!” He started to struggle for his breaths but I kept pushing. “Amy,” Logan called but I chose not to listen. “Amy! Stop!” I laughed dryly as my claws clawed deep into his neck. It gave me so much joy feeling that pulse of his weakened and how much fear raked his nerves. “I thought you weren’t scared of death?!” “Amy, let go of him!” Logan demanded and in the last second that I almost snapped his neck, Logan came to my side in a flash and separated me from him. “What the hell has come over you?!” He barked. “Don’t you ever touch me!” I growled at him and they all gasped, the shocks on their faces were equally the same as if they had just witnessed the might of hell. “Amy, your eyes,” Oliver stuttered and only then did I notice the reflection in my mate’s eyes. My eyes were glowing red.
