Chapter 7

"Maybe Tabitha didn't want to live anymore. Still, she wanted her child to live. I still remember her getting down to her knees and begging me to let her keep her child right after she regained consciousness. "But I'm just an old man who picks up trash for a living. I don't have the capability to protect her and her child." After Paul was done speaking, he tossed another set of newspapers at Atlas. It appeared that Stacy had turned three years old by the time the article was written. For three years, Tabitha and Stacy had been living in the junkyard. Still, the people of Newtropolis found out about their existence. Countless citizens surrounded the junkyard just to seek justice for Sierra while condemning Tabitha to the pits of eternal hell. Unfortunately, Stacy happened to suffer from a high fever that day, leaving her in a state of extreme discomfort. It was a day filled with heavy rain as well. Tabitha kneeled before the masses in the junkyard and begged them to form a path for her just so she could take Stacy to the hospital. She pleaded to the masses, hoping they'd spare her and Stacy's lives. But no one gave way to Tabitha. Luckily, Stacy's immune system was extremely strong. She endured night after night of high fever, resulting in her survival and eventual recovery. Not only that, but Stacy was also an obedient child. Every day, she'd help Tabitha with household chores. Whenever Tabitha was tired, Stacy would massage her legs and shoulders for her. Paul sighed once again. "Stacy is an adorable little girl. As for the third incident, I'm sure you'll be able to find out what happened on the Internet." The third incident was Xander's incident. In fact, the trigger of the incident was relatively simple. It all happened because Stacy accidentally stepped on Xander's shoe and dirtied it. How ridiculous! However, the comments left by the Internet users were extremely harsh. Everyone supported Xander unconditionally simply because they felt that Stacy's presence was sinful, seeing as she was Tabitha's child. Stacy was the by-product of the shameless Tabitha and the groom, after all. No one would pity her even if she were to die. Tabitha did her best to scrounge up every dollar just to pay Xander for the soiled shoe in order to protect Stacy. But Xander refused to let them off the hook even after she managed to pay off the debt. To him, Tabitha and Stacy were just his playthings. After Atlas read all the articles, he found it impossible to calm down. A long time had passed before he finally placed the newspapers on the ground. "Thank you," he said gruffly. Even Ian could sense the rolling waves of rage coming off Atlas' form. Someone had stepped on Atlas' toes this time. The apocalypse that was bound to come would eventually swallow this world whole. No one could ever escape from their doom. After all, the leader of Aerial Blade was enraged this time. As Paul studied the sacred coat that Atlas was wearing, he remarked, "You must be a doctor, right? It's easy to save lives, but it's difficult to save yourself." Once he was done speaking, he turned to shuffle back to his shack in slow steps. Atlas couldn't calm down at all. Rage kept building up in him, yet there was nowhere for him to vent his emotions. He pulled out his phone and keyed in Sierra's number. Once the call went through, he roared at her, "Sierra Hammond!" Sierra didn't expect to have picked up Atlas' call. She replied frostily, "Your senses really are sharp, Atlas Blackwell. You must've returned to Newtropolis now that you've found out about Century Group becoming a listed company." Atlas couldn't care less about Century Group. Now that he was back, neither Century Group nor the Hammond family could do anything to him. Those who dared to harm his daughter shall face the consequences! They were nothing but lowly mortals, after all! Atlas inquired furiously, "Are you the one behind Tabitha's incidents all these years?" Sierra thought of herself as the one standing on the top of the power pyramid in Newtropolis. Hence, she cackled boldly in response. "Oh? Are you here to seek justice for your woman? Then again, I did dump your ass all those years ago. Not only have I been targeting her, but I've been targeting you all this time! "By the way, I've done more than hire tons of people to make Tabitha's life a living hell. That night, I was also the one who sent her into your room on purpose." What? Sierra was the one who set Tabitha and Atlas up! Why did she do that? Tabitha thought of Sierra as her best friend, and yet Sierra manipulated her into having sex with Atlas. After that, Sierra tricked Atlas into thinking that she was the one who had slept with him. Because of that, both Atlas and his mother were filled with guilt, resulting in them giving away one of the Blackwell family's treasured medicinal formulas. Fortunately, Atlas was now back to amend the errors. He could still salvage everything. "Sierra, you will regret crossing me." Atlas' gaze turned sharp. But Sierra continued laughing. "Regret, you say? You're nothing but a loser! I wouldn't have married you if not for the legendary medicinal formula in your possession!" Atlas ended the call. There was no need for him to explain himself to Sierra. Instead, he turned on his heel and said to Ian, "Ian, put up the sacred coat here." Ian was so shocked that his legs almost went limp. Did Atlas just command him to put up the sacred coat in the junkyard? He shook his head as he shouted, "Mr. Blackwell, please don't do this!" "Just put it up!" Atlas' thundering voice penetrated through the atmosphere. He wanted the entire world to know that his beloved daughter was bullied by the citizens of Newtropolis! … Ian stayed by Atlas' side at all times. He knew more than anyone else what the significance behind putting Atlas' sacred coat up was. There were two sides to the sacred coat—the white and the black. If the white side was put on, everyone in the world would have to make way for Atlas to treat illnesses and save lives. But once the black side was put on, the world would be washed with the blood of Atlas' enemies. Those who were saved by the famous Atlas Blackwell would hurry over to the designated place where the coat was put up just so they could repay him for saving their lives. It didn't matter who the person was—as long as they offended Atlas, he would never hesitate to kill them. Atlas saved millions of lives in this world. Many of them were extremely rich and powerful, not to mention influential. If one of those individuals were to come to Newtropolis, the entire city's economy would collapse. Not only that, all roads would also be clogged with traffic. Still, Newtropolis would take pride in the fact that the individual had chosen to visit the city in the first place. Currently, there were countless individuals of the highest stature making their way into Newtropolis. Needless to say, the city couldn't handle their presence at all. The moment Ian put up the sacred coat in the junkyard, the coat attracted the attention of the entire world. Countless people began paying attention to Newtropolis. Even Paul, who lived in the shack far away from the junkyard, froze in his steps. He stared at the coat, which swayed with the breeze in midair, with fear and awe in his eyes. Then, he slowly sank down to his knees. "Stacy, it turns out you didn't boast at all. Your father… really is the beacon of light in this world…" … The Hammonds lived in the Century Estate located in Newtropolis. Sierra might seem cold and impassive on the outside, but she was actually feeling quite uneasy. To think that Atlas managed to return from Northern Bronshire, which was known as the land of no return! She called Alan's number right away. "Alan, I want you to deal with someone for me." Alan Dawson was the leader of the underworld in Newtropolis. He was the one running things behind the scenes in the city. That was the reason why Xander dared to do whatever he wanted in Newtropolis. Then again, Alan wasn't one of Sierra's professional assassins. He replied coolly, "Ms. Hammond, you want my help in dealing with more people? "My men have been targeting Tabitha and her daughter incessantly in the past few days because of your orders. They should be dead soon." Sierra smiled in satisfaction. "I still need you to deal with another person. Don't worry. Once you're done with everything, I'll hand over the majority of the businesses in Newtropolis to the Dawson family. You should know very well how much profit your family gets to pocket." Alan smiled meaningfully. "Relax, Ms. Hammond. Your enemy is my enemy as well. I'll make sure to find Atlas Blackwell a good spot to die in." With that, he ended the call. It appeared that he was surrounded by a group of men clad in black suits. The backs of their jackets had the letter "D" imprinted on them. Alan waved his hand as a signal to get everyone's attention. All the fighters in the Dawson family stomped their feet on the ground simultaneously, causing tremors to rumble for a moment. Then, Alan got up to his feet and declared loudly, "Men, come with me. We're going to scout out a good place for Atlas so we can bury him there once and for all!"
