Chapter 124: Healing Wounds
Kimberly stood outside the imposing entrance of the hospital, her heart heavy with apprehension. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead, before pushing open the doors and stepping inside.
Navigating the maze of corridors, she finally reached Gift’s room. She hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the door handle, before mustering the courage to push it open.
Gift lay in the hospital bed, her face pale and drawn, her eyes closed as if in pain. Kimberly’s heart clenched at the sight, but she squared her shoulders and took a step forward.
“Gift,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Gift’s eyes fluttered open, and she turned her head to look at Kimberly. There was a flash of anger in her eyes before she looked away.
“What are you doing here? I’m not in the mood for your sympathy, Kimberly,” Gift said, her voice tinged with bitterness.
