Chapter 69
Lorraine didn't even say anything about the rude stuff Grandma said. Instead, she was looking out for me. That was how she had always been. She constantly had my best interests at heart.
I looked at her and felt a sting in my nose. "I'm sorry. I didn't handle my family matters well enough."
I put her through some miserable stuff today.
"It's fine." Lorraine wasn't bothered at all. She shrugged and handed me the bowl of soup. "It took me three hours to make it. Why don't you have some?"
"Wouldn't have it any other way." I took the bowl and sniffed it. My eyes widened as I said, "It's nicer than the soup my maid prepares."
"Stop pulling my leg." Lorraine swayed slightly, blushing involuntarily.
There was only half of the soup left, and she asked me to bring back some for Jonas. I didn't reject her. When she turned and left, I couldn't stop myself from calling out to her.
"I'll do something about the news." I had decided to be with Lorraine, and it was my job not to disappoint
