Chapter 10
The next time I saw Morgan was on my way home from work.
When he suddenly appeared before me, it took me a long while to reconcile the cold and arrogant man I knew with the unshaven man I was looking at.
After not seeing him for half a year, I realized that life seemed to have smoothed out his rough edges.
According to Linden, Morgan's company had been declining since I left. On top of that, I had asked my father to withdraw his investment.
Morgan was much thinner than before and was wearing a wrinkled white shirt. There were dark circles under his eyes, and he appeared lifeless.
However, his eyes lit up when he saw me, as if he had found a treasure he once thought lost.
I took a step back and evaded his touch. His hand met air. He then lowered it weakly back to his side.
His eyes were filled with hope as he took half a step forward before suddenly starting to ramble, a confession spilling from his lips.
