Chapter 17
Micah shook himself free from Jocelyn's grip and said, "Have a good rest, Jocelyn."
As he turned to leave, he heard her cries and pleas from behind.
One would say that a woman's tears were the best way to soften a man's heart, but sadly, Micah did not look back.
A wave of loneliness swept over Jocelyn as she heard the door close gently. Being alone in a foreign country, the loneliness was so great that it was suffocating her.
Micah went back to his room.
He was feeling a little dizzy as he had too much to drink just now.
Sitting on the couch, he decided to take a short rest before washing himself.
Soon, he heard a knock on the door. Thinking that it was Fred, he got up and opened it.
A figure pounced on him as soon as the door was opened. Dodging reflexively to the side, he grabbed the intruder's wrists and pinned them behind their back while his eyes gleamed with a hint of coldness.
"Ouch! You're hurting me. Let me go!"
Seeing who it was, he let go of his grip and looked at her in surprise.
"What are you doing here?"
Tiffany rubbed her wrists and spoke as her eyes darted quickly around the room, "I'm here to catch you in the act."
Micah rubbed his temples and said, "Huh?"
Tiffany strode into the room and checked everywhere, including the closets and the space underneath the bed. She then let out a sigh of relief after realizing that there were no traces to suggest that a woman had been here before.
"What are you looking for?"
Micah felt even dizzier as he watched her darting about in the room.
Tiffany pushed open the bathroom door and continued her search. She then found a lipstick and a lock of hair near the washbasin.
She showed them to Micah and confronted him. "Where did these come from?
"You're a married man, Micah Blake. How can you betray me?!"
Tiffany's rage was plain on her flushed face.
She had taken a flight from South City and spent hours before finally finding the hotel where Micah was staying. She waited for him in the lobby, but he was too busy talking with beautiful women and did not even notice her.
Tiffany's rage built up the more she thought about it.
Meanwhile, Micah was still greatly surprised at Tiffany's sudden appearance. He stared blankly at her like a fool upon being confronted by Tiffany.
Tiffany grabbed him by the collar and said, "Listen here, Micah Blake. You should show me some respect even if you don't like me. How could you have an affair?! What do you take me for?!"
Tiffany could not stand being betrayed.
She felt that couples should respect each other in a marriage, even if there was no love between them.
Being cheated on was the thing that she hated the most in her life.
Tiffany thought that she knew Micah's character and that he would be different from other men.
The alcohol had started to kick in, and coupled with Tiffany's outburst, Micah was feeling even dizzier now. He suddenly felt a loss of energy as he said weakly, "Let go of me."
Suddenly, a kiss fell on his lips. It was soft and brief.
Micah pursed his lips in reflex.
The touch of her lips burned into him, and the more he thought about it, the more he could feel the sensation.
In a defiant tone, Tiffany continued, "Don't you dare to cheat on me in our marriage ever again, or I'll never forgive you. You hear me?"
Micah did not register a single word she said as he watched her crimson lips open and close.
He later pushed her away with a dark expression.
Micah hated to be taken advantage of, but if he were to argue about it, it would make him feel like a petty person.
He had no choice but to act as if nothing had happened.
Micah asked, "How did you know I was here?"
"It wasn't that difficult to find you, especially when your best friend keeps posting photos on her Instagram."
"Why did you come?"
"I missed you, so here I am."
Micah could not tell if Tiffany was telling the truth.
After that, Micah asked Fred to arrange a room for her, but Fred later told him that all the rooms had been fully booked.
According to the hotel staff, all of the remaining rooms were booked just a few minutes ago.
Fred suggested booking a room at a nearby hotel, but Tiffany shook her head and said, "I don't want to stay at another hotel. I'm scared."
She turned her gaze to Micah and said pleadingly, "I've never been this far from home before. This is my first time abroad. I don't know anyone here, and I don't speak their language either. What if I get scammed by someone?
"I came here to look for you. Don't you think you should take responsibility?
"Pretty please? Honey~"
Upon hearing her coquettish tone, a hint of disgust flashed across Fred’s face while he fumbled around as if he were looking for something.
"What are you looking for, Fred?"
"I'm looking for a hole to hide myself in, Mrs. Blake."
"...Get out."
After stealing a glance at Micah, Fred slipped out of the room.
Micah took out a set of clean bedding, threw it in her direction, and said, "You'll sleep on the couch tonight. I'll send you home first thing in the morning."
Tiffany replied, “Okay.” Then, she watched him disappear into the master bedroom.
After ten minutes, Tiffany knocked on his door, poked her head in, and said, "I didn't bring a change of clothes."
Micah ordered the hotel staff to get some for her.
Since they were staying at a luxury hotel, the amenities provided were high-quality branded products.
After five minutes, she went into his room again. This time, she said, "I didn't bring any toiletries either."
After another ten minutes, she said, "I"m hungry."
Micah ordered something for her to eat.
Half an hour later, Micah was dozing off when Tiffany knocked on his door again.
Losing his patience, Micah asked in frustration, "What now?"
Tiffany said in a whisper, "I'm too scared to sleep alone."
As patient as Micah could be, he was definitely losing it now. He let go of the reins controlling his temper and shouted angrily, "Tiffany Young!
"I gave you an inch, and now you're taking a yard?! If you keep this up, you're gonna have to sleep outside."
Hearing his words, Tiffany stopped her act and gently closed the bedroom door. She then went to sleep on the couch.
It started raining heavily in the middle of the night. The wind howled through the night, piercing through a small crevice in the wall.
Tiffany pulled up her blanket and wrapped herself up more tightly.
A sudden bright light zigzagged across the sky, followed seconds later by ear-piercing thunders. Tiffany yelped at the noise and curled up in fear.
In his sleep, Micah had a sudden feeling that someone was strangling him, making it difficult to breathe.
He woke up and understood what was going on.
There was another person in bed with him. She was lying next to him, her feet wrapped around his waist and her arms around his neck.
Micah would have thought that she was trying to murder him if he did not see her shaking violently.
Furious, Micah pushed and wriggled in an attempt to shove her off the bed, but he failed to do so.
He was surprised that he could not beat her in terms of strength as she looked like a frail and delicate woman.
"Get out of my bed, Tiffany."
"Please don't push me away. I won't stay for long," Tiffany said shakily.
"Please, Micah. I'm really scared."
Another lightning strike pierced the sky, and Micah could feel her wrapping around his body even tighter this time. Her whole body was also shaking uncontrollably.
"You're afraid of lightning?"
Tiffany nodded in response. She was holding him so tight that her nails dug into his skin, causing Micah to wince in pain.
"You have the guts to come to a foreign country alone, but you're afraid of lightning. That's unexpected."
"You're dead meat if you get struck by lightning, you know."
"There are lightning rods installed on the roof, so it's unlikely for people to get struck by lightning." Micah tried shoving her away and continued, "Besides, it's not like you've seen somebody getting struck by lightning before. There's no need for you to wrap yourself around me so tightly."
"I've seen it before."
The fear in her muffled voice was like a sword piercing through Micah's heart.
Looking at her pale face, Micah sighed deeply.
'Oh well. Just this once. I'll be sending her back tomorrow anyway.'
A pleasant fragrance lingered around her body, and the sheets were soon full of her scent. Her skin was also soft against his, and because she was holding him so tightly, the sensation became even greater.
He never knew that a woman's body could be so soft and delicate.
Maybe it was because of the wine, or maybe it was because there was another person in bed with him, Micah started to feel a bit hot.
Outside, the thunderstorm went on into the night. Inside, one was shaking in fear, while the other was feeling tormented.
"Look, Tiffany. You have to let go of me first."
"I don't want to. You'll kick me out."
'Oh well, at least you know that.'
Tiffany refused to let go of Micah no matter what he said.
While Micah did not seem interested in women, this did not mean that he would not feel anything when there was a woman in his arms. He was still a man.
A hint of aggressiveness flashed across his eyes, and he started getting a bit feisty.
His temperature rose, and Tiffany could feel the heat radiating off his skin as he touched her waist. In one swift move, Tiffany was pinned to the bed, and her mind was in a blur.
"Mica—"
His kiss was rough and passionate as he placed his hands under her clothes, roaming every inch of her body.
