Ann called Mikael's number again. "I need to talk to Hazel."
"Hey, Ms. Moore, it's me. He didn't do anything to me but restricted my freedom."
"Okay, hang in there. I'll come to rescue you tomorrow."
"Ms... Ms. Moore, maybe you shouldn't come." Hazel's voice choked as if she were holding back some strong emotion.
"Hazel, just tell her you're safe. No need for small talk." Mikael's voice rumbled softly on the other end.
"Hazel, wait for me. I'll bring you back safely tomorrow," Ann said firmly.
"Ms. Moore—"
Before Hazel could finish, the call ended abruptly.
Wyatt, standing nearby, squinted and said, "Hazel seems to have something to tell you."
"She probably just worried about me, not wanting me to take risks." Ann chuckled.
He said nothing in response.
If that were the case, the instant Hazel picked up, she should've yelled for Ms. Moore to stay put instead of stammering and hesitating.
