Chapter 12
Ann smiled. Her eyes turned into crescents, and her lips curved elegantly.
Is there anything more absurd than this in the world?
Wyatt was the main reason behind Hayley's success yet she credited it to her own abilities. She even dismissed Wyatt for someone like William instead.
"Ms. Moore, even if Wyatt had been discreetly helping Hayley, wouldn't she have noticed anything in three years? Hazel questioned, puzzled.
"Do you know if the janitor, Jane, has a large mole on her face?" Ann suddenly questioned.
Hazel paused for a moment, then said, "I can't remember."
Ann narrowed her eyes. "We see Jane everyday, yet you can't remember whether she has a mole on her face."
"What's the connection between these two things, Ms. Moore?"
"You overlooked Jane because you deemed her as unimportant. So, even if you saw her everyday, you wouldn't remember anything specific about her. It's the same with Hayley, she didn't take Wyatt seriously. No matter how much effort Wyatt put in, she wouldn't notice."
"Ms. Moore, I understand now." Hazel said, looking ashamed of herself. "But…what about the collaboration partners?"
"What do you think?"
Hazel pondered before answering, "Hayley Pharmaceuticals had lost its core competitiveness when Hayley kicked Wyatt away. It would be foolish of us to collaborate with her."
Ann nodded in approval. "So, the first to be kicked off the list is Hayley Pharmaceuticals."
Hearing this, Hazel was about to discard Hayley Pharmaceuticals information, but Ann stopped her.
"Wait." Ann suddenly changed her mind. "Bring these documents to Wyatt. Let him make the decision."
The banquet was about to start.
Hayley and her companions hurriedly searched for their seats.
They had been introduced to many influential figures in Yonada by William and had been networking.
As they searched for their seats, they suddenly caught sight of Wyatt.
"Isn't that the loser, Wyatt?" Lucy exclaimed.
"How did he manage to enter without an invitation?" Hayley frowned.
William let out a cold laugh. "He probably used his fake invitation. It's disgusting how these people insist on mingling with people beyond their level."
"How can this loser be compared to Mr. Porter? That foolish woman even bet on him with her trust and possessions. She really is blind!" Lucy expressed with disdain.
"Stop barking. You're disturbing my rest." Wyatt opened his eyes slightly.
'What did you just say?"
Lucy was about to explode with anger but her phone rang, interrupting her agitation. Seeing that it was Mr. Calloway from Starlight Pharmaceuticals, she quickly answered.
"Mr. Calloway, are the results in? Is Hayley Pharmaceuticals selected as the primary collaboration partner?" she asked eagerly.
"I'm calling to inform you that Hayley Pharmaceuticals has been eliminated," came the cold voice on the other end before they abruptly hung up.
"Mr. Calloway, did you make a mistake… Hello?"
Feeling dumbfounded, Lucy put down the phone.
Hayley, who had heard everything from the side, was taken aback as well.
Weren't they supposed to be the top choice? It was impossible for them to be eliminated.
Both women's expressions betrayed their conflicted emotions.
"Mr. Porter, could you use your connections to negotiate on behalf of Hayley Pharmaceuticals? See if there's any chance to salvage things…"
Hayley turned to William, knowing that he was her best hope. He was the only person she knew who had connections with the Moore family.
William hesitated. He knew that he was a nobody in front of the Moore family.
But in order to maintain his dignity in front of Hayley, he reluctantly agreed, "Alright, I'll give my cousin a call and have her ask Ann Moore about the situation."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Porter," Hayley expressed her gratitude.
William nodded and walked out with his phone, with Hayley and Lucy following behind.
Meanwhile, Hazel approached Wyatt.
She introduced herself and explained her purpose before passing Hayley Pharmaceutical's information to Wyatt.
"This matter concerns the Moore family's business. It's inappropriate for me, an outsider, to make the decision." Wyatt said.
"This is Ms. Moore's order. I'm just carrying out her command. Whether the Moores collaborate with Hayley Pharmaceuticals or not, the decision lies in your hands."
Wyatt gave a resigned smile and picked up a pen to cross out Hayley Pharmaceuticals name.
However, he changed his mind after a moment of contemplation. He drew a checkmark on the contract instead. It was more interesting to satisfy Hayley's desires for the time being and observe the eventual outcome of this.
Wyatt's decision left Hazel astonished. She hadn't expected him to choose Hayley Pharmaceuticals after being casted away heartlessly by Hayley.
At the same time, William called his cousin. His cousin told him that despite being a member of the Jarilo Club, she had never crossed paths with Ann, let alone spoken to her.
This revelation embarrassed William greatly as he knew he couldn't maintain his dignity in front of Hayley.
However, faced with Hayley's hopeful gaze, he persevered and assured, "I already called my cousin, she said she'll try to help."
"Okay. Thank you so much for your troubles," Hayley said gratefully.
Not long after, Lucy's phone rang again. It was a call from Mr. Calloway.
"Hayley Pharmaceuticals had been chosen. Come to Starlight Pharmaceuticals' headquarters tomorrow to sign the contract."
"Huh? Didn't you say we were eliminated, Mr. Calloway?"
"Someone helped you. Don't ask so many questions.Goodbye." He hung up.
Lucy was momentarily taken aback, but soon her excitement took over.
"Hayley, Hayley Pharmaceuticals has been chosen as partners with the Moores!" Lucy exclaimed.
Hayley was equally surprised by the turn of events. She looked at William in disbelief, realizing his influence was greater than she had imagined.
William was puzzled by the situation. He was aware that it wasn't his cousin who helped as she had told him it was impossible. Who was it then?
However, William couldn't help but feel pleased as Hayley gazed at him with admiration. He chuckled and said, "It seems that my cousin has a good relationship with Ms. Moore."
After that, the trio walked back to their seats proudly and came to Wyatt's side.
"Ah, lying here like a waste. You're truly no match for Mr. Porter," Lucy mocked sarcastically.
Wyatt looked at the three cheerful individuals before him. "Oh, what's going on?" he asked, with a slight smile on his face.
"Hayley Pharmaceuticals was eliminated just now but Mr. Porter managed to change Ms. Moore's decision with just one call," Lucy bragged with a face full of pride. "Mr. Porter's influence is truly unparalleled. Compared to you, the difference is like heaven and earth."
"Yes, Mr. Porter is truly amazing. He turned the tables and saved the day. Wyatt, it seems I made the right choice," Hayley said, her excitement apparent.
"Well, I wish all of you the best in your endeavors," Wyatt replied with a broad smile
As he looked at the triumphant trio, he pondered on the possible consequences.
Hayley Pharmaceuticals would likely have to cease production of their flagship product due to the lack of raw materials. This itself would cause them to breach their contract.
He wondered if they were able to afford the tenfold penalty outlined in the contract!
