I swirled the whiskey in my glass, the amber liquid catching the soft glow of the chandelier overhead. From my seat at the bar, I had the perfect view of George as he made his pathetic attempt to approach Mr. Hastington.
Clueless as always.
I had already spoken to Mr. Hastington earlier in the evening, securing my place in his favor without George even knowing. He thought he had a shot? Though he could walk in here, throw around his last name, and win over one of the most elusive businessmen in the industry? Pathetic.
I smirked, taking a slow sip of my drink. This was going to be entertaining.
Just as I was about to enjoy the show, I felt a presence beside me. Lucas leaned casually against the bar, his usual easy grin in place. "So," he said, voice light with amusement, "are you playing Batman with your brother tonight?"
I let out a small chuckle, placing my glass back down on the counter. "Something like that." My eyes flicked back to George, who was struggling
