George leaned back on the couch, watching my reaction carefully. "There's someone waiting for you," he said casually, though I could tell he was curious about the situation.
Brianna met my gaze, her face filled with something I hadn’t seen in a long time—sadness.
I exhaled sharply and stepped forward. "Brianna," I acknowledged, my voice steady but guarded. "I wasn’t expecting to see you."
I turned to George, my expression cold and unyielding. "Go away," I said flatly. "This is a private matter."
George chuckled, the usual amusement dancing in his eyes. He raised both hands in mock surrender and slowly stood up from the couch. "Alright, alright. No need to get all dramatic." He gave me a knowing smirk before turning to Brianna. "Good luck with him," he said before strolling toward the door. With a lazy wave, he disappeared into the hallway, leaving us alone.
Silence settled between us, thick and heavy.
