Daniel's leather shoes splashed in the puddles, making a loud, rhythmic sound. Nancy's heart skipped a beat as she looked up.
Behind Daniel were James and Jason, all three drenched by the rain. Daniel's gaze shifted between her and Gilbert, then he let out a cold snort.
Gilbert was equally stunned. After all these years, he still harbored an inexplicable fear of Daniel's voice.

Nancy quickly composed herself and turned to Daniel. She had no idea why he was there, but Jason's sinister look made her uneasy.
