"Hmph, it's all because of you, you brat. You didn't even come for my birthday," Cindy said as she saw Daniel, her expression easing up a bit.
The others followed suit, trying to smooth things over so the atmosphere wouldn't become too awkward.
Meanwhile, Nancy had already stood up quietly, standing beside Daniel.
When no one was paying attention, Daniel pulled her aside. "Why didn't you remind me?"
"What?" Nancy looked up at him, puzzled.
Daniel frowned. "About Grandma's birthday. Why didn't you remind me?"
Nancy struggled to find her voice after a moment. "I'm sorry, I called you and sent a message, but you didn't reply, and Blanche didn't answer my calls either."
Now it was Daniel's turn to look bewildered. He took out his phone, muttering quietly, "When did it get muted?"
Nancy remained silent, with a faint suspicion arising in her heart. It was just a little girl's mischief, nothing serious.
