CHAPTER 55 Resilience in Shadows
The warehouse fell into an ominous silence as the shadowed figure asserted its presence. Lisa's heart pounded, the weight of the past bearing down on her like a heavy cloak. The flickering light bulb above seemed to pulse with an otherworldly rhythm, casting elongated shadows that danced on the cold concrete floor.
Lisa, feeling a shiver run down her spine, tightened her grip on the edge of a nearby crate. "Who are you?"
The shadowed figure chuckled, the sound reverberating through the desolate space like a malevolent melody.
Shadowed Figure, sinister grin widening, "Names don't matter, Lisa. What matters is the reckoning that shadows bring. The past has a way of clawing its way back, doesn't it?"
Mark, sensing the gravity of the situation, moved closer to Lisa, a protective instinct taking hold.
Mark, firm and resolute, "Enough with the cryptic talk. What do you want?"
The figure's laughter echoed, the darkness seemingly feeding on the tension in the air.
