Emily awoke to the soft light filtering through the curtains, painting delicate patterns on the bedroom walls. David had already left for work, his side of the bed cool and neatly made. Stretching lazily, Emily glanced at the clock and realized she had overslept. With a sigh, she swung her legs over the edge of the bed and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. As she made her way downstairs to the kitchen, she noticed a small package sitting on the table. It was wrapped in plain brown paper, tied with a simple string. Curiosity pricked at her as she approached, wondering who could have left it there. She checked the tag, but there was no name, just her address scrawled in neat handwriting. Puzzled, Emily picked up the package and turned it over in her hands. It was light, and there were no clues as to what might be inside.
