In the dimly lit parking lot, where the murmur of distant traffic created a distant symphony, Amelia found herself unexpectedly face-to-face with– Ethan, her ex-husband. His sudden appearance cast a chilling tension over the ordinary evening.
She'd been expecting him.
"Amelia," Ethan's voice cut through the quiet, a venomous edge slicing the air, "we need to talk."
Amelia, her exhaustion momentarily forgotten, met his gaze with a mix of surprise and trepidation. "Ethan, what are you doing here? This isn't the time or place."
Ethan's eyes gleamed with an unsettling intensity as he took a step closer, his words dripping with resentment, "You ruined everything, Amelia. Natalie left me, and it's all your fault."
Amelia, caught off guard, refused to let his accusations go unchallenged, "Ethan, our marriage ended because of your actions, not mine."
His face contorted with a bitterness that seemed to emanate from deep within, "You turned her against me. Convinced her I was the problem.
