Amelia watched Mark as he walked through the door, his expression grave and his shoulders tense. She could tell something was wrong just by looking at him. "Mark, what happened?" she asked, her voice laced with concern. Mark took a deep breath, his gaze meeting hers. "I didn't do it, Amelia," he said quietly. "I couldn't pull the trigger." “What trigger?” Amelia asked, her heart thumping wildly in her chest. What the hell was he talking about? Mark moved mechanically towards her, his face devoid of any expression. “I could have killed him, but I didn’t.” He sighed heavily. “Killed who?” Amelia asked. She almost screamed but decided to keep calm and hear him out. “I went to confront Ethan and we got into a fight. He was armed and tried to shoot me, but I got the upper hand.” Mark looked at Amelia, and her heart sank. They were cold and distant. “What?” “I held the gun to his head, Amelia, but I didn’t do it. The more I think about it, the more it makes me mad.”
