Chapter 139
After speaking, Layla walked over to the cabinet next to Ruby. She picked up her bag and looked at her husband with concern, saying, "Honey, are you really sure you don’t need me to stay and take care of you?"
"No need, just go!" James insisted.
"Then make sure to rest well, and call me if anything happens." Layla finished her sentence and then turned to Ruby, "Ruby, take good care of your father; he has worked so hard for this family."
Ruby did not like hearing Layla speak this way; she didn’t respond.
Layla sighed deeply, "I know I don’t always come across as nice, but I really hope our family is doing well."
Ruby, in the presence of her father, couldn’t bring herself to agree with Layla. Deep down, she did not consider her as part of the family.
"Well, I’ll be going now." Layla picked up her bag and left.
James looked at Ruby, "Ruby, are you still upset with your aunt Layla?"
"Dad, I honestly don’t understand why you betrayed my mom back then. Wasn’t she good enough?" Ruby couldn’t
