Chapter 17 17
I didn't know if I was in my right sense of mind. Maybe I wasn't because I wouldn't have gone with this crazy plan with my best friend, who for some reason didn't seem like one to me now. I mean who the heck pushes their best friend into a situation they can't handle? I knew I was going to regret agreeing to her.
After saying yes Olivia couldn't help jumping on me, nearly crushing me to the floor, she gave me instructions on how to be a believable Juliet.?As?if?she knew it herself.?I had no idea how I was going to do this. Were there any manuals on how to act like a billionaire's daughter?
I didn't know how Olivia knew this all but she actually did teach me how to at least act rich and a total bitch. I had never imagined Ashley to be of any use but when to act bitchy, she was the right person to take lessons from. I even copied her idiosyncrasy. How to walk, how to talk, how to be rude and how to be a bitch with an unapologetic crappy mouth.
The first thing I wanted to do was shower. I didn't know for how many hours, or probably days I was passed out but the first thing I desperately craved for was a hot shower. I felt so sticky and dirty, I couldn't help myself from asking my supposed mom for clean and comfortable clothes and a warm bath. She obviously agreed to my every request and I couldn't help but wonder why she was so giving. That was a really good thing that she was giving but she was the reason why Juliet was a spoiled brat. I knew I shouldn't judge Juliet. I never even met her but from what Mrs. Jen- I mean my 'mom' said, all I could think of Juliet was that she had an uncanny similarity with Ashley in terms of behavior. But of course, Ashley wasn't Juliet.
Suddenly, I realized just how lucky I was to be where I was right now. The reality of the situation finally dawned upon me and I realized that it wasn't just lucky, it was also just as risky, conniving and idiotic of us. But it was too late to go back. I had already convinced the lady that I was Juliet. I have responded to her whenever she called me Juliet. Fate too seemed to side with Olivia because whenever I made a slip up, she covered it for me with almost believable reasons which made me wonder if she has done this before - lie like a pro.
"Juliet, I have some clothes that were Rachael's. I hope you don't mind wearing these for now. Samara will deliver the clothes picked for you by Miranda in a couple of hours," my 'mom' told me with a smile before heading for the door of 'my' room. Olivia had searched up everything about this family and had told me that Rachael was Juliet's elder sister.? She paused just at the foot of the door, turning back to me with a slight frown. "Or do you want to shop at the mall like you always used to do? I'll make the place private for a few hours for you."
"Uh..." I trailed off. Make a mall private just for me to shop? Damn these people were rich. She looked at me, still waiting for me to say something.?Shop?at?the?mall?like?you?always?used?to?do.?So Juliet chose to shop at the mall when she was young. She'd probably do the same if she was in my place right now. "I'll prefer to shop at the mall."
The woman's face broke out into a grin. "So like you."
"Well, it is really me," I said, chuckling nervously as I tucked a lock of hair which was carelessly fanning my face, behind my ear.
"I know," she said, placing her hand on the door handle. "Do you want to shop today? I think you should not because you're probably very tired of what has happened over the last couple of days. Well, it's up to you."
"I think, yeah, I'll shop for my clothes tomorrow or something. But not today. Um...I'm very tired."
She looked surprised but covered it up quickly. "Oh, that's a first."
"What?" I asked her, my brows knitted together in confusion. Did I say something wrong?
"You never agree with me on anything, always doing the opposite. This is a first. What has the world done to my princess?" She said, he eyes crinkling at the corners in amusement.
"Oh...uh, I guess I learned that life is hard and um...I now know that I was acting immature...?" I trailed off, unsure.
"I don't know what exactly happened to you out there, and we have to talk about it,"?And?I?would?have?to?make?up?a?story?for?it.?"But you have changed. For now, I think you have changed for the best."
I gave her a smile. "Yeah."
"So I'll leave you to shower. Here are Rachael's shorts and a shirt. I didn't exactly plan on what you were going to wear. But anyways, you're going shopping tomorrow."
I thanked the lady before she left my room. Olivia was going to stay in the guest room and she was so excited to see her bedroom that without a word to me, she hopped off the bed and left to see it. And I hadn't seen her since. It had almost being two hours and I had no idea where she was.
I got up from where I was sitting on the edge of my bed and made my way to the bathroom. It had a huge shower and the whole bathroom was at least twice of my apartment. I could just imagine how much more bigger it would be when I get to see my own room.
I jumped into the shower, cleaning myself off of the grime from yesterday. The warm shower relaxed my muscles and eased my stiff body. I thought of my time here. It had been less than a day I was here. We had breakfast around noon and had lunch quite late. My 'dad' had gone to his private office in some corner of the mansion and was quietly working with someone, who my 'mom' told me was going to stay here for a couple of months, working alongside my 'dad' until they learned and gained experience in business. I wondered who it was but shook it off. It was not like I was going to interact with them or anyone else apart from my 'family' here.
I stepped out of the shower, wrapping a soft towel around my body and walking out of the bathroom. My clothes were lying on the bed. I quickly slipped into it. My hair was damp from the shower, smelling of the strawberry shampoo I washed my hair with.
Not sure what to do now, I just flopped on my bed, staring at the ceiling above me. A while later, I heard a soft knock on the door. I jerked up from the bed and made my way to the door, yanking it open to reveal a short woman with huge black rimmed glasses sitting on her nose. Her long black hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail and she looked like she was in her late twenties.
