Chapter 5: FIRST REUNION
AMBER'S POV
As the time ticked slowly for the carnival to start, the more I began to regret giving them the permission to go. And since because it was going to be rowdy, there was no way that I was going to let them go alone.
They had done their assignments in their room; yup they had a room together with three separate beds at different position of the room and their junks and clothes were piled up regardless of their sex. They had eaten lunch and also some few minutes ago after an hour of napping, they had eaten dinner. And now they were having a shower before changing into their respective outing wears; and by outing wears, I meant layers and layers of clothing. We were soon experiencing winter and I didn't want to take any chances with their health so call me over protective but I am just doing my job.
I heard a loud crash coming from downstairs and I was skeptical. Should I go down and see what is happening? Or would I be viewed as a mother who can't give them kids privacy. I was about to get from the bed when I heard Danny scream,
'WE ARE PERFECTLY ALRIGHT, MUM DO NOT COME DOWN HERE!" Well if that wasn't a big clue for me not to meddle, I do not know what it was. I didn't bother replying because this was a question that doesn't require an answer. It was more like ….a mild warning. And I decided that I was going to be the coolest mum ever and nothing like my mum so I fell back on my bed and decided to have a little day dream.
****FLASHBACK****
'Amber, Amber, Amber" I was feeling a little light headed as the crowd cheered my name. What the hell was I doing here and why did I want to stay, he was looking at me. I spun around but I didn't see him but I felt his presence.
'Do you want to get dirty with me and lose your virginity?" I heard a voice said. It turned out to be Daniel Tucker. He was his best friend and if he was there, that meant he wasn't far behind.
I shook my head. I might be woozy but I wasn't dumb. There was no way that I was sleeping with this lowlife creep. Mel had pulled me here but it seemed like I rather be anywhere but there.
'No I don't want to. Leave me alone." I said with words this time incase he couldn't understand my body language. I had integrity and dignity and I felt like puking on him so I hurriedly ran out of there and found an empty space and threw up.
'Mum, Mum, Mum…." I heard as I turned to see Jay calling me mum. Why would he be calling me mum, I am 17 for freaks sake.
'Mummmmmmmm!" Danny said pulling at me as I shook from my reverie as I looked around.
We were at the carnival already and they were excited.
'Mum, can we go ahead since you do not want to get close?" Danny said again as I looked around and saw that it was Danny and Maddie left.
'Where is Frankie?" I asked as Danny looked amused and said,
'He bailed on us since we arrived. You were pretty lost huh? Now can we go?" He said as I looked at him and Maddie. I didn't want to let them out of my sight and at the same time I didn't feel brave enough to venture more. Jay Harley was there somewhere and I hated him. Being a bully all the years of your life stays with you.
'Fine, but stay with each other at all times, Ok?" I said as they both nodded their heads and held each other hands and soon got lost in the crowd. Damn it, my black outs were becoming more and more regular. I had barely turned when I saw Danny running towards me scared as I was confused. Where was Maddie? What the hell spooks a 10 year old like that. I had barely gotten a chance to open my mouth when he crashed into me shaking like a leaf.
'Hey you are okay? Tell me what is it? What happened?" I said trying to soothe Danny first when I heard him reply,
'Clowns….clowns" He said as I took a take back. Danny wasn't scared of Clowns. Shit this was Frankie. Frankie was holding me.
'Hey Frankie, I am here now, I will protect you. No clowns are going to get you without passing through me first." I said kissing him on the head as I hugged him too to soothe him.
'You are safe now, I promise." I murmured not minding the fact that people were looking at us. My son needed his mum now and that was who I was going to be.
JAY'S POV
To say that I was shocked was an understatement the entire town had come out to greet me like a prodigal son, I had been picked up at the airport by my dad's drivers and Daniel was with me, but he took a detour to retire since he wasn't the star of the night. Damn it, they were all overreacting for nothing, but I had to be present. I didn't want to seem rude and egotistic. And now as I was greeting the crowd, I lost balance and bumoed into a kid and he fell down.
'Oh S***, are you alright? I say as I take his hand to pull him up and he nodded his head as he gave me a big smile and I was awestruck. This was the most blue eyed boy I had seen in my life. It seemed to glow in the dim light, heck, mine was dim compared to his.
'Danny, are you okay?" A girl said as she ran to stand in front of the boy and loojked at me.
Hold on, is there a competition of blue eyed kids or something.
'I am fine, Maddie. That is Jay Harley, don't you know." He whispered as her eyes lit up with surprise and then took my hands and shook it till I swore my hands were going to fall off.
'Nice to meet you kids." I said and she squealed.
'He spoke to me." She squealed as her brother{I think} gave her a subtle nod and said,
'He talked to me first. Come on let's go. We have disgraced ourselves already." He said pulling her by the hand as she waved at me eagerly as she was being pulled away.
I waved back and smiled, a warm feeling in my heart. Her childishness reminded me of someone from my past.
