Layla called out again, hoping to get a response, but Olivia stayed silent.
Seeing no change, Layla realized there wasn't much she could do. Exhausted, she closed her eyes again.
The night passed slowly.
The next morning, Layla was jolted awake by the sound of a ringing phone. She sat up in bed, reaching for her phone on the nightstand to see who was calling.
It was a call from her family. Without hesitation, she answered.
Her mother's voice came through, sounding worried. She wasn't feeling well and needed Layla to come home.
Hearing that, Layla's expression turned tense. She quickly got out of the bed and said, "Alright, I'm on my way."
After ending the call, she tucked her phone away, feeling a bit frazzled.
Olivia emerged from the bathroom just then and noticed Layla was up. "Did you sleep well?" she asked.
Layla, still processing the call, immediately shared, "My mom's not feeling well, so I need to head home for a bit."
