Olivia's heart pounded in her chest, her breathing quick and shallow as if the storm outside mirrored the storm within her.
"Ma'am?" Mary called softly again, trying to get her attention.
The relentless rain hammered against the car, muffling most other sounds. It was as if the world beyond the vehicle had vanished into the downpour.
Olivia turned her head from Mary to the driver. After staring straight ahead for what felt like an eternity, she finally spoke, her voice steady but firm. "Head to the western outskirts."
The chauffeur glanced at her through the rearview mirror, frowning slightly. "You want to go to the western outskirts? In this weather?"
"Yes," she replied, her tone leaving no room for argument. "Right now. Immediately."
Though the chauffeur hesitated for a moment, he gave a short nod. "Understood, Ma'am."
Without another word, the car veered onto the slick, rain-soaked road, heading out of the city and toward the western outskirts.
