Morning light began to beam down on the lonely highway, with the sun just rising. Jennifer was slumped, with her heart leaning slightly on the window, staring outside at the trees. The outside world appeared peaceful, with bright sunlight pouring in and the promise of a new day. Byron glanced at her and smiled. "Are you okay?" She turned to him and nodded. "Yes. I think so." He took her hand, lacing his fingers through hers in a comfortable bond, a silent conversation that had become theirs. They were headed to a little cabin two hours outside of town, near the lake surrounded by tall pines. Byron stumbled upon this lodge and suggested they shut themselves from the outside world.
