Chapter 6: A New Beginning
Olivera's POV:
I sighed for what felt like the hundredth time as I trailed behind the man. The walk felt endless, my legs were heavy with fatigue, and I could practically feel the dust settling into my skin. It had to have been hours since we started, but the scorching heat and exhaustion were skewing my perception of time. In reality, it had likely only been a short while. But every step felt like a struggle, each breath a reminder of how thirsty I was.
"Stop whining. We'll be there soon," the man said abruptly, causing me to stumble a little in surprise.
I blinked, feeling as if he had just read my mind. How did he know? I stared at the back of his head, trying to figure him out. He hadn’t so much as glanced back at me since we started this trek, his stride steady and sure, like he knew exactly where we were going.
"Be quick about it," he added, his tone flat but final. "The sooner we get there, the sooner you can rest."
