Chapter 10: The Assignment Continues
Olivera's POV:
"Have a seat," the man who introduced himself as Nick said, gesturing towards one of the worn sofas in the dimly lit room. He sat himself on a small wooden stool near the wall, arms folded across his chest in a casual yet guarded posture.
I hesitated for a moment, scanning the room for any hidden threats, before settling into the seat he offered. The tension that gripped my muscles eased slightly as I sat down, partly because he seemed kind and partly because, for the first time since my capture, someone in this godforsaken pack treated me with a semblance of decency. But I wasn’t naive—this pack was dangerous, and I had no illusions about that. Just because Nick appeared kinder than the others didn’t mean he wasn’t capable of cruelty.
"How did you end up here?" His question caught me off guard, though I shouldn’t have been surprised. It was a reasonable inquiry given the circumstances.
I paused, considering my words carefully. I had no interest in rehashing the pain
