CLAUDIA.
"Siren Wolves?" I manage to repeat. But my voice is so low and so shaky that it's basically useless.
However, it seems to work on Achilles anyway. He looks at me and says, 'Yes, Siren Wolves. That's what the Oracle was. That's what all real fortune-tellers are. They have the gift of vision.'
"Ah," I say.
Suddenly I get thrown back into the memories of that night when I tried to escape Nightshade Springs, when John and his friends attacked me. I remember spouting some riddle that night. One that sounded like a prophecy.
'They are not to be trusted,' Achilles continues. 'They would do anything to make those prophecies real, even if they have to get their hands dirty. Which makes you think if those prophecies are true. Maybe they themselves just made it up. Maybe they really are just doing their best to make it come true so they never get to admit that they are wrong.'
"Or maybe it's just fate," I say, and he shrugs like he's considering the idea but not really believing it
