Chapter 103

CLAUDIA. As soon as Larkin gets on his knees to worship the monstrosity in front of us, I get the sense that something is about to go horribly wrong. And I was right. The beast immediately tenses up, its eyes fixated on Larkin. Achilles grips my hand and I can tell he’s about to run with me, but I can’t move. I don’t think I can even breathe properly right now. My chest seems to be too hard, and my limbs are refusing to respond. I’m petrified with fear, and it’s justified. Because when Larkin looks up at the beast he calls the Great Leader, he immediately gets met with its hand, tipped with sharp curved nails that slice him right through the chest. Larkin falls to the ground, his throat carved right open and spewing a whole fountain of blood.
