Chapter 20

Miriam had been gazing at the stars through the window of her room for what seemed to be an hour now. She couldn't feel anything and her body was tired and numb, her eyes had been fixed on the sky as different thoughts plummeted through her mind. She was knocked out of her trance when the scent of the food her sister and friend were preparing for dinner hit her nostril. She was about to leave for the kitchen when she noticed someone outside her window. "Christian?" She called as a smile stretched over her lips. She walked out of her room before trudging outside the cold night. "Christian, where are you hiding?" She asked when she got outside and didn't see him around. She walked towards the far end of her house but noticed nobody. "Christian please show yourself and stop playing games already." She yelled. Meanwhile, Eleanor and Doris were setting the table. "Miriam?" Eleanor called but got no response. She walked into Miriam's room but she wasn't there. She checked every nook and cran
