It had been a week since Dad and the Elders were killed. With every day, the ache in my chest lessened a little, yet the guilt very much overpowered the grief. I had to live the rest of life knowing that I was the reason he was killed. My recklessness had painted a target on his back, and Jett had seized the opportunity with deadly precision.
