Chapter 34

　　RILEY: 　　"Where did you get that necklace from?" The strange man whom Damien eventually introduced to me as his father queries me a minute after I return into the quarters after Xavier came for me. 　　I look down at the one thing that reminded me of the parents I never got to meet. The necklace that was handed over to me since I was little at the orphanage center. 　　This is the second time that someone would take actual interest in it like it was something significant. First it was Damien. Now his father. 　　"My parents," I say in a neutral tone despite my reluctance to respond. 　　"And who are your parents?" 　　"They are dead. Never got to know them." 　　I didn't feel an ounce of remorse by my statement proclaiming my parents' death. But my claim actually gets Damien's father confused as he stares at me weirdly. 　　"How did the necklace end up with you if you never got to know them?" he asks, obviously trying to get the truth out of me.
