"This is awkward," Karl said beside me, seated at the dining table of the Grovers.
"Not awkward. More like deja vu," he said after a few more seconds.
"Shut up, Karl," I said beside him and then looked at the Grovers.
"We would like to extend an arm to you, Alpha," Karl grunted.
"No," Cal said. "You have no choice. He is your alpha, and you are obligated to do your duty as a pack member."
Mr. Grover shook his head. "I understand. But I fear for my safety and the safety of my family, especially since the Alpha chose the Omega over my true daughter."
I slammed my hand on the table and instantly regretted it as pain shot through my side. I gritted my teeth and didn't let him see.
