Chapter 28: The Old See Far

"But I don't understand why I have to go to him," I protested and snuggled my head back into my pillow.
"You know what, my dear? I think I'll just leave you so you can take a few hours to sleep." Her voice sounded grim but far away, so I couldn't be bothered to listen to her. Instead, I continued my sweet battle with sleep, and eventually, it won over me.
By the time I woke up, the sun was shining fully in my face. I pulled myself out of bed, took a shower, dressed in some clean, nice clothes—part of those that Sky had bought for me—then found my way to the living room.
"I was thinking you would never come out. I've called Lazarus, and he said he would be expecting you."
"Who is Lazarus?"
"Oh my goodness, I can't believe you don't remember." Madam Gertrude chuckled and then reached out for me. "He is the oldest in the pack. He is also a seer."
"That's so cliché." I walked over to her and took her hand. "Can I at least have breakfast first?"
