I sat in Lazarus's cottage, patting the back of my well-fed infant two days later. Nicholas let out a burp on my shoulder and cuddled himself as though he were having a conversation with my hair, gently tugging on it.
“It’s good to see motherhood becoming you yet again,” Lazarus said, watching the boy. “I have a funny idea,” he added, causing me to click my tongue and shake my head.
