Chapter 19: Slip

"They have a great Alpha. That was fast," I said, accepting the letter from Karl.
"Likewise. It usually takes about a day and a half, but 24 hours is a record time, Alpha."
"The only problem is they have sent Roxanne," I stated, holding up the letter in my hand, eyebrows raised. "The consent letter you sent. Why does Roxanne have to deliver the letter herself?"
"I don't know, Alpha."
"How should I treat her?"
"Like a guest."
"But Alpha, she tried to discredit your mate."
"Only because she didn't know she's my mate. Perhaps she's coming here to apologize. Either way, let's hope for the best."
Roxanne arrived noisily, the clanking of her heels terribly distracting from my work.
"Take off your shoes and get the hell out of my house," I growled at her.
"I will take off my shoes." She instantly bent to remove them before standing in front of me. "The letter, Alpha."
She walked up to me and stretched out the letter to me. "My family's grateful for your wonderful consideration
