Chapter 16: Near Miss

Sky "Something is wrong." I stood up from behind my desk and stormed out of my office, with Karl following quickly behind me. "But Alpha, we're not done yet," Melissandra followed behind me albeit at a different pace. "What is the problem, Alpha?" Karl asked, now catching up. "I don't know. I just know something isn't right with Diana." As soon as I reached her room and threw open the doors, I found my mate on the floor. "Diana!" I ran to meet her. She was mostly unresponsive, but she was still breathing. I pulled her into my arms and took her to Damien. As soon as he saw me, his eyes widened. "Alpha, oh my sweet Goddess. Put her here." He led me to an empty bed. “A few minutes after that's all I ask. Please, let go of her." Damien pleaded with me. "No. I'm not letting her go." I held onto her even as Damien ran tests. A few minutes later, he had her hooked on a drip. "She was poisoned. It's mostly a mild sedative for werewolves, but for her, it could be fatal. Find out who
