"You're cute," I found myself saying as I stepped into the house. Marcus cleared his throat behind me.
A boy stood in front of me, blocking my path. He was tall and lanky with heart-bright golden eyes. "Stay away from us. What do you want?" he barked at me with as much intimidation as his thin frame would allow.
"If I say I'm the Boogie Man, would you listen?" I said, feeling a slight urge to tease them. Marcus cleared his throat again behind me. I rolled my eyes at the interruption. "My mate brought all of you here together. Unfortunately, she is indisposed."
"No," the lanky boy said. "We're not going anywhere until she comes. She's the only one that can move us from this place." He clutched onto his shirt, defiance burning in his eyes.
As I toweled my hair dry, I couldn't help but feel anger bubbling up, watching him talk to his friends.
"Jacob, stop." Mellie stepped between us just as my eyes started flashing. I then felt a hand on my shoulder, calming me down.
