"I'm sorry, but I just have to ask," Karl raised his hand. "You are aware of what you accuse her of, correct? Running away. Allegedly running away, or was there anything else?"
"We have reason to believe she might have stolen a few things from us as well. But that is simply speculation. I noticed a few items from my jewelry box missing," Mrs. Grover stated with a nod.
"We also know that the punishment for theft is death, but we don't want her to die. We simply wish she would learn..." Her voice faded into the background until it blended with the environment.
I had long since stopped meeting the eyes of anybody in the council room. The patterns on the carpet were far more interesting.
"Diana?" I felt Madam Gertrude's hand on mine, pulling me out of my daze.
"Yes, madam." I answered.
"Alpha Sky asked you a question."
