Chapter 100: Purpose

The park was right in front of us, but we couldn't enter.
"Why did you stop?" I asked Sky.
"They are following us," he said. He opened his door and stepped outside. As soon as he did, I scrambled to open my own door and stepped outside.
"Go back," Sky said.
"No," I replied. "What if I could help?"
Sky laughed and shook his head. "You can help me by going inside and staying safe," he said, looking down at me with tenderness in his eyes.
"I'm not going to lose you, Di. Not now. Not ever." He planted a kiss on my forehead.
Once he walked away, I stood my ground behind the van, hoping to watch.
Sky walked for about a minute down the road until the wolves showed up. He shifted into his wolf form and roared at all of them.
Most of them shifted back into their human forms, their eyes looking normal. Melly was among them.
