I heaved a sigh as I rolled to the other side of the bed. Hours had already gone by and I still haven’t been able to find good sleep. Tonight’s restlessness wasn’t about Marianne at all, it was more about me. I was stuck in limbo on what truth to believe regarding my father’s death. Was it Genevieve’s truth or my mother’s?
I exhaled deeply and alighted from my bed. I proceeded out of my bedroom and stared across the hallway where one of the doors belonged to Marianne’s room. Ever since we had that conversation in the morning, it got me pondering hard and questioning my reality. My mother would never lie to me but neither will Genevieve do the same as well.
I combed through my hair frantically as I headed to my private study. I pulled out a red book and clicked on the button behind it causing the bookshelf to gradually drift to the right and revealing the large portrait of my father.
