CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT - Across The Divide Of Understanding
The trail led to a small clearing where a young woman waited nervously. She jumped when a twig snapped beneath Gabriel's foot.
"Hello?" she called out. "I was told to wait here."
Gabriel emerged from the trees, keeping his posture non-threatening. "This is Silver Moon territory. State your business."
The woman—barely more than a girl, really—visibly relaxed when she saw his pack insignia. "Oh thank goodness. I have a message for the Kane pack. It's urgent."
"I'm Gabriel. Security officer for Silver Moon. You can give the message to me."
She hesitated, clutching a sealed envelope. "I was told to deliver it directly to Alpha Alexander or his son."
Gabriel stepped closer, using his position to subtly intimidate. "Any message must be screened by security first. Pack protocol."
The girl frowned, clearly conflicted. "The person who sent me was very specific..."
"I can take you to Alpha Alexander," Gabriel offered. "But first, I need to check the message for security threats."
