"Someone like you?" Lucas couldn't keep the edge from his voice.
Vanessa's smile didn't waver. "I know I'm not your first choice, Lucas. But I care about this pack too. I want to help."
Christine nodded approvingly. "Vanessa comes from a strong bloodline. The alliance would strengthen our position."
