Chapter 21 Under the Table
"You're walking too damn fast. Slow down," Marvin grumbled.
"It's mighty strange that I'm outpacing you with my short legs. Pick up the pace," Alice shot back.
"Hey." Marvin sprinted ahead and blocked Alice's path. She came to a halt and stared at him.
His brownish-black locks cascaded naturally over his broad forehead. The sharp line of his nose, stretching all the way up to his eyebrows, gave him a fierce countenance despite the softer gaze he bestowed upon her.
An itching sensation crept over her hands. It was an unbearable itch, like the buds that bloom in the springtime.
'Why am I acting this way? I never used to be like this,' Alice pondered silently. She quickly coughed, concealing her emotions.
"W-What?" she stammered.
"I just want to spend more time alone with you. It's been mighty tough to see you lately. So, slow down," he demanded.
