Run
Valine blinked several times to adjust her vision from the bright light of the room. She felt that someone was hammering her head and her body had been kicked many times. With a groan, she pushed herself up, biting her lower lip from the pain that shot with every small movement.
But she instantly hissed when she felt a cut on her lip.
"Where the hell am I?" she mumbled, scanning the luxurious room she was in.
She scowled, not recalling how the heck she reached the place.
'By car obviously' countered a small voice in her mind.
As if on cue, the memory of her at the auction, her very unpleasant encounter with her mate, and her begging for rejection.
"What the hell?" she cursed under her breath.
Gripping the side of her stomach, it felt like being hit by a truck, she put down her leg on the carpeted floor. She took a quick gaze around. The room looked to be a presidential suite with its classical interiors, a living area, a dining area, and a freaking kitchen as well. She turned to look at the bed she had just slept in. She rolled her eyes when it was a king-sized bed.
Of course, her mate was stinking rich. He just gave away 40 million to her. And it doesn't need a genius that he was the one who brought her to this room. She gritted her teeth from the pain all over her body and the fact that maybe his good-for-nothing mate was just around the room.
Or then again not?
She painstakingly sensed her surroundings, and a bit of relief came to her when she felt that she was alone in the spacious room. Thank heavens!
She took a step forward but instantly regretted it when a sharp pain shot up in her body, mainly on her back. She closed her eyes tightly, waiting for the pain to subside, not moving a single muscle. That bastard slammed her three times! It was even a miracle that she still had a backbone!
Perhaps, for an ordinary human, she was as yet fortunate. But as a werewolf, the fact that she couldn't heal herself now was pathetic to the core. However, she acknowledged that quite some time ago. Her wolf genes were helping her; it was just very slow. From how harsh she was slammed last night if her wolf genes didn't heal some critical damage, she was on her way to meeting her ancestors.
'Amaris' she called to her wolf in her mind.
Her inner wolf shakes its head, 'I cannot speed up our healing, Valine. This was my limit'
"Damn," she whispered painfully.
She takes a deep breath a few times, readying herself to move again. Grimacing, she walked towards the bathroom.
With every step, her body was protesting. Tears overflowed at the edge of her eyes from such a lot of torment, but she didn't stop till she reached the door. She desperately hoped to be in the bathroom. Luckily, it was. She didn't bother admiring the lush bathroom and immediately checked her appearance out. She was still in her flimsy, short, and revealing golden dress. Her hair was messy and her make-up was messily smeared on her small face. It didn't help that the black liquid from her eyeliner made a freaking black line on her cheek.
She can't leave seeming to be a zombie, especially since humans could say that she was a crazy lady meandering around the area. Humans can be overdramatic sometimes. She hastily opened the faucet and splashed water on her face, generally taking the smirched cosmetics off her face until she felt it stinging. She overlooked how water dribbled from her jaw to the center of her chest and pulled the white robe and towel into the corner.
She patted her face while stepping out of the bathroom while hissing from pain in between. She tossed the towel on the floor and wore the robe. Using her fingers, she combed her hair, putting some in front, then tied the robe to her waist, but not fully. She did all that while her eyes were on the door.
As soon as she was done, she searched for her heels that were near the hotel slippers. She immediately strolled towards it and wore slippers instead. Her heels will kill her this time. She can barely walk straight on her feet, much more on five-inch heels.
At the point when she was satisfied with her appearance to meet people, she made her way to the door limping and with a slight involuntary grimace. The second she arrived at the entryway, her temple was beading with sweat.
'Don't do this, Valine', hindered by her wolf.
'You're doing well, Valine, that is the very thing that you ought to tell me at the present moment, Amaris'
'Let's give him a chance'
"He has used his three chances already, Amaris. Remember how he hurt us? Yes, I doubt he deserves another f*cking chance" she finally answered through gritted teeth.
Amaris, her wolf, gone silent. How much she would have rather not hurt her wolf, it was the reality and she cannot let the bond make her a fool of herself.
She took a deep breath once again before pulling open the door. She peeked her head out first, looking wildly at the left and right hallway with her heart pounding hard against her chest. Thanks to her werewolf hearing, she hears no strides coming. She ventured outside, shut the door, and stumbled to the elevator. She nearly cried when the lift at long last opened. In no time, she stepped in, pressing the ground floor.
Adrenaline pumped in her veins as she practically pressed again and again on the button. She overlooked the agonizing torment in her body. Tears fell on her cheeks as she shakily thumbed the button.
"Please, please" raw fear was in her quivering voice.
The door finally slid close. When it moved, she only started to breathe relief. She leaned on the panel of the elevator, letting the coldness of it calm her, and wiped the tears that escaped her eyes.
She would not let that mate of hers touch her again. That bastard dared to hurt her. She was such an idiot for accepting this. But she will be stupider if she does not escape.
"Mate my ass" she grumbled, grasping the side of her stomach.
As the elevator moved down, she was quietly imploring that nobody would come in. What's more, the sky could have heard her since she arrived at the ground floor with practically no interference. It was just 4:00 in the morning, thanks to the clock that she saw in the room, and she doubted that many people would be awake at that time. When the door of the elevator slid open, she quickly stepped outside and looked around for any trace of the man she wanted to escape from. She saw a woman at the reception desk who was caught up in typing on her cell phone. She hurried to the entrance while gnawing her lower lip to stifle the shout from such a lot of agony. The guard stationed near the glass revolving door took a gander at her with her forehead wrinkled in confusion and concern.
"Ma'am are you—" the old guard asked her so that she easily distinguish herself as human.
Before he could complete his inquiry, she cut him off.
"I am fine," she said in a dry tone, moving past him.
When she was finally outside, she saw the still dull sky however somewhat light was apparent in it. With her heavy breathing and agonizing feelings all around her body, she took off from the lodging. In the not-so-far distance from her, she saw a man wearing a helmet. Besides him was a black motorcycle.
She was going to alter her course to avoid the man when a very familiar voice echoed behind her. Her skin crawled from dread and terror along with the sparks in the voice. She looked back and saw Dimitri in a black tuxedo and looking as if he had just come from a business meeting, scowling at her. In a split second, she found his striking and strong blue eyes shifting from black, a sign that his wolf was battling for control.
"VALINE!" Dimitri shouted.
'Stop, Valine' Amaris called to her. Now the presence of her mate was just around, the bond was still at it. 'Maybe we could give him a chance'
"He doesn't deserve a chance, Amaris!" she gritted before sprinting toward the man who was wearing a helmet.
She removed her slippers and she ran barefooted.
"VALINE!" Dimitri called indignantly, pursuing her. "VALINE, DON'T YOU DARE!"
Valine felt so much power over that demand that she nearly submitted to the order. He was using Apha's tone. But the adrenaline in her veins, the fight or flight instinct kicking in, her body resisted the command.
She kept on running. In the spur of the moment, she felt her foot bleed after she nearly stumbled on a stone, but she pumped her legs to run even more. The man earlier who already wore his helmet watched her confused yet, for the most part, concerned. She halted before him, heedlessly swinging her long legs on his motorcycle.
And with tears streaming down her face, she addressed the obscure man.
"Help me, please" she choked, looking back at the man she was unfortunately bonded with.
Dimitri was just a few meters away from her. In the distance, she saw the man who led her outside the tavern last night looking at her in utter horror.
Without the slightest hesitation, the man hopped onto his motorcycle and started the engine. Valine instinctively held his waist. Dimitri stretched his arm and tried to reach her but she slapped his hand away similarly as the vehicle picked up its speed. She watched her mate pursue them until he halted when they were too far. She knew he couldn't use his werewolf speed from how some employees were starting to come out of the hotel, looking at them curiously.
The motor was so fast. She stared at Dimitri, who was also doing the same. His gaze was intense. For the last time, she held his blue eyes against her green ones before she faced them in front.
The wind slapped her face and hair harshly, yet she couldn't have cared less. She hid her face on the stranger's shoulder, her hand tightened around his waist. Amaris didn't like that she was touching another man aside from her mate, but she blocked her wolf. As they dashed on the bustling street loaded with vehicles with all set objections ahead, she cried.
From the pain in her body and her heart.
Because she had just left the man that was destined for her and she had no directions on what to do anymore.
