The haze of alcohol began to lift, and Cecilia's mind cleared along with it.
She opened her dazed eyes and looked at Cyrus. Sweat trickled down her neck.
"I'm sorry. Does my breath smell?"
Cyrus smiled. "Not at all, it's nice."
Regret flooded her. "I won't do this again. Please, don't tell Zoey. I owe her so much. She's my best friend and a sister to me."
She never wanted to compete with Zoey, and usually, her self-control held firm. But after a few drinks, the impulse control vanished, and she couldn't understand why.
"It's okay, Zoey won't know. Wash up, and ease off the drinks tonight." He carefully wiped the lipstick from his lips before finally leaving her alone.
