The next morning, Linda stood in front of the mirror as she applied a red lipstick on her full lips. Her long black hair rested on her back like a calm wave. With a black pencil skirt and white blouse that she wore now, she stared at herself in the mirror. After applying the right amount on her lips, she placed it down and turned her head to the door which was knocking. “You are almost ready.” Kylie said. “I will be leaving soon to the house.” “I am a few minutes late for the meeting at the company.” Linda said. “Mother said she would be coming to the company today.” Kylie said. “I should get going now.” She quickly put her phone in her bag and walked passed Kylie. “Take care of yourself.” Kylie said as she watched Linda walked down the stairs. Once Linda arrived at the company, she didn’t waste much time and went straight to her office. She brought out her key card and gently scanned it on the scanner next to her door. Her assistant was already awaiting her in the office room. “I had to push the meeting to twenty minutes forward since you didn’t arrive on time.” Olivia, her assistant said to her. “We should head there now. I wouldn’t want to keep them waiting any longer.” She dropped her bag on the table and stood next to her assistant to see the files she was reviewing. ..... “It’s been twenty minutes and your CEO is yet to arrive.” Vladimir casually sat down on the meeting chair next to his assistant. “She is present in the company now and would soon arrive any moment from now.” One of the staff of the Fintech company tried to calm Vladimir’s assistant, David. “That is the same excuse you have been giving us for some time. What do you guys take us for?” David snarled. “Please—” “Five minutes from now and if she hadn’t arrived yet, we would cancel the contract immediately.” David said. “One word from my CEO and this company would be doomed as trash.” Vladimir continued to click his shoe on the ground surface as he await the CEO. He was here for the contract discussion which would cost billions of dollars to profit. “Ohh she’s here already.” The staff said upon seeing the text from Olivia. “I apologize for the delay I had cause. There was some mix up I had to clear up before coming here.” Linda said professionally as she walked into the meeting room. Vladimir whose head hung low staring at his phone, slowly raised it up at the alluring voice which sounded like a siren. His jaw drop down at the sight of the woman standing before him. She looked stunning today unlike yesterday were she had hurried from the company in a mess. He never expected to see the woman here. What was she doing here? He had promised not to cross paths with her again but here they were staring at each other in complete shock. Her long black hair complimented her pale white skin and she looked like an Angel which descended from the sky. Vladimir didn’t know when he stood up from his chair and took a step forward to have a clear view of her. His eyes slowly moved from her silky black hair down to her feet. “Boss....” David tapped on his shoulder to draw his attention. Vladimir shot back from reverie and the events that happened yesterday swooned inside his head. His lips twitched with disdain as he stared at the woman before him. Had she come here to talk things out with him? But no matter what happened, Vladimir had vowed not to have anything with any woman. He wasn’t ready to settle down with a woman. “What are you doing here?” He asked before walking back to his seat. “Don’t tell me you work here as a cleaner.” Linda scoffed at his words and she shook her head as she continued to stare at him. Shouldn’t she be the one asking him that question? Had he come here to stalk her? “I should be the one asking you that question. Did you come here to stalk me?” She raised a brow at him. “Where is the CEO of this company? We came here to talk with the CEO and not someone like you.” Vladimir said. “The CEO of this company is dead and there is no current CEO as the shares of the company was divided to each person in the family.” She said. “Miss Linda we spoke about this yesterday. We promised each other not to cross paths. Why are you stalking me?” He asked. “You didn’t promise me anything.” Linda took a bold step forward. “I asked for an agreement from you and you walked out of me. Who could have known that you would show up at my family company the next day to stalk me?” “This is your family company?” He asked. “What? You really thought I was some cleaner?” Linda patience for this man was getting to the brink. “Well then....” He stood up from the chair and his assistant followed. “I wouldn’t want to work with someone like you.” “Please the door is all yours.” She said, hoping he would leave her sight immediately. “I hope the next time you see me you should put some respect when talking to me.” He said and walked out of the meeting room. “Did you just ruined our one billion contract offer?” Olivia was surprised at her. “If Madam Audrey found out that you ruined the contract offer you will be in trouble.” Olivia said. “Does she knows about the contract?” Linda turned her head to look at Olivia. Olivia nodded in response. “She does. She was the one who requested a meeting at the company.” “Ohh my goodness.” Linda shook her head in disbelief. She knew what would happen to her if she eventually lost the contract. “You need to go settle with him now.” Olivia said. “But how?” Linda asked. “How am I going to stop him from leaving when I was the one who sent him out?” “Just try.” Olivia said. Linda quickly nodded her head and dashed out of the meeting room. If she had known it was her mother who had requested to see Adrian, she would have ruined it and put herself in trouble. Before her father died, he wrote to gave her major shares in the company more than his own children. When her siblings saw the will he wrote, they were infuriated and tried to change the writing. It was the family lawyer who was being honest and refused to turn things to her siblings favour. Linda knew that even with this, her mother had the rights to chase her from the company. “Please wait!” Linda screamed at the top of her lungs as she ran towards Vladimir.
