CHAPTER 43 HOME COMING
Jane couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned over the bed, restless with the news her aunt had delivered that evening. It wasn't any soothing to realise that she wasn't marrying the old Duke. She didn't even know the name of the man she was to be married to in a few weeks.
Jane didn't want to return back home. She needed to speak to Max and explain her feelings towards him was genuine. She pulled out her phone from underneath her pillow and scrolled through IG. There were no new posts from Max.
Was he still hurting?
She returned to her call log and dialed Oliver's number.
Oliver's voice was dull from sleep.
"Jane," he drooled. "It's almost midnight. What fine trouble are you in?"
Jane ignored his statement.
"Are you fully awake, Oliver? I need you to listen to me."
"What's it, Jane?"
"My father wants me to return to Berkeley this weekend."
"That's great," Oliver's excited voice passed through the speakers. "You have no idea how much I've missed you-"
